Bill & Linda James Scholarship Fund (Altadena Recovery Team)

Description
The Bill and Linda James Scholarship honors the lives and legacies of two proud Pasadena/Altadena residents whose deep roots in the community shaped generations that followed. This scholarship stands as a tribute to their enduring impact on family, community, and the belief that education is a powerful pathway to opportunity.
Requirements
  • Must have been a resident of an Eaton Fire impact zone (Altadena, Pasadena, or Sierra Madre) at the time of the fire.
  • Must have been impacted by the Eaton Fire (loss/damage of home, loss of family or personal income, and/or temporary or permanent displacement).
  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be a high school senior or a current college student attending an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, volunteer, civic, or other community involvement.
  • Must provide proof of residence in an Eaton Fire impact zone within one year prior to January 7, 2025.
  • Must submit high school or college transcripts.
  • Must submit 2 letters of recommendation (1 community member and 1 educator; family letters not accepted as official recommendations).
  • Must submit 2 short essay statements (250–500 words each) as a Word document.
  • Must submit a recent photo of the applicant.
  • Applications using ChatGPT or other AI chat bots will be disqualified.
